In this day and age life without Smartphone’s seems impossible, the world is accessible in just a few clicks. Our phones have become an integral part of our lives. They have transformed from merely being a want to being a need of every person. Smartphones are capable of carrying multiple operations but over time they lose their speed resulting in an unwanted crash, performance issues, battery drainage etc. spoiling the experience for the user.
Use these tips to keep a check on your device’s health.
Reduce background apps
As soon as you are done with the app make sure to close it from the background as it takes up space in your RAM, leading to data load on the device and heating up the motherboard in case of heavy running apps in the background.
Close excessive browser tabs
We often open many tabs and don’t close them which leads to heavy usage of RAM space by the browser, and while the browser is running in the background it increases the RAM load.
Use fewer widgets
Using widgets on home screen keeps them running in the background, draining the battery rapidly and slowing down the phone’s performance.
Clear cache data
Apps keep constantly caching small data, boosting the performance of the apps. If your phone is running out of storage the cache data is doing more damage than speeding up the performance, freeing it up may help you increase your overall device performance.
Remove unwanted apps and bloatware
Smartphone’s often come with pre-installed applications by the manufacturer which you may not use. Simply go through the app drawer and disable or uninstall such apps, not in use.
Battery charging habits
Using phone at low battery hinders battery performance and faster-charging ability and increases easier drainage. Charging battery at one go all the way up to 100 is not advisable, as it damages batteries cell and lasting durability. It is recommended to charge up to 60% at a time.
Software Updates
Manufacturers of the device provide timely updates of firmware, fixing bugs and optimizing phone’s performance. Updating your phone regularly improves its stability and boosts its performance.
Wallpapers screen time out and screen saver
This is handy if you are facing battery heating and drainage issues. It may sound boring but using a simple black wallpaper or dull shade wallpapers and screen savers reduces battery usage. It is extremely helpful if you are using a phone with AMOLED screen.
Lowering screen time out limit and turning off auto brightness also improves battery performance as auto brightness uses sensors to sense lighting conditions.
Updating your apps
Application developers release newer versions to fix bugs and add new features. Updating them regularly adds to the user experience.
But I recommend switching off auto-updates as it increases background usage and data consumption, updating apps when not required and eating up storage.
Internal memory and using a good external usage
Keeping a chunk of your internal memory available helps your device in operating smoothly. Using a good class memory card such as class 10 helps Smartphone in faster data processing, optimizing user’s experience.
Disabling animations
Animations keep all the transitions and interactions appear fluid until your phone starts slowing down and animation start to look like stop motion video. If the animations aren’t flowing smoothly, turning them off will free up processing power.
For this go to “about phone” in settings and tap on “build number” 7 times. A message will appear you are a developer now.
Now go to developer mode in settings and tap on “windows animation scale” and select “Animation off”. Do the same with “Transition animation scale” and “Animator duration scale”
Do the above if only required.
Adopting these simple measures will ensure a better experience and better phone’s health and life.
