Whenever it comes to making someone ideal, then Sushmita Sen is surely one to look for. The journey on which she has been till today is inspiring and motivating for others. A Miss Universe, a fitness enthusiast, a philanthropist, a mother, a companion, and even at the age of 43, she knows very well how to keep her things on track.
On May 21, 1994, she became the first Indian Women to wore the crown of Miss Universe. After which her life changed, in 1996 she entered Bollywood with her debut movie Dastak, and after which for years she continues to set an example and lead by example because her personal life is as interesting as her career.

1. FIRST INDIAN TO WIN MISS UNIVERSE
At the time when most of us do not know which path to take or which career to opt, Sushmita Sen won the Miss Universe title when she was probably 18 years old. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also nominated her name for the competition but seeing her 25 other contestants withdrew their name, but Sushmita did not and rest of all we know is the history.
2. DIDN’T WORE A DESIGNER OUTFIT
In the final competition, Sushmita dress was not designed by any designer, instead, it was stitched with the help of a local tailor and her mother. Even the gloves worn with gown were actually made of socks.
3. FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE
Sushmita made her first public appearance at the Air Force Club Contest when she was 15 and in 1994 she took part in beauty pageant competition.
4. EDUCATION
Until 16 Sushmita Sen just knew the Hindi language because she grew up studying in a Hindi medium school, but then she mastered the English language too. She was also an English honours student and acquired her degree in Journalism.
5. FIRST BOLLYWOOD DEBUT
After winning the title of Miss Universe it opened gates of Bollywood for Sushmita, In 1996 she entered Bollywood with her debut in Dastak but the movie couldn’t do so well at the box office. In 2000 she won her first award in the film industry for Biwi No.1 for the best-supporting-actress from Filmfare & IIFA.
6. A SINGLE MOTHER OF 2 GIRLS
Sushmita Sen adopted her first girl, Renee, at the age of 25 only without caring about the opinions of others. After some time, she decides to adopt another child Alisah. At first, the court refused the adoption, but she insisted and finally won. When asked to her about adoption she said ‘that motherhood teaches a lot to people’. She also added that it has taught her to appreciate her parents at first. She also never got married.
7. HER WORK FOR CHARITY
Sushmita runs a charity “I AM” foundation. Her work for the children welfare and girl child education is appreciable. She is a great philanthropist by heart.

When she was in school, she was considered a tomboy because she would hang out with boys all the time. Becoming a model she broke Orthodox mindset all at once. She also has a dog and a python and loves the reptiles.

The Journey of Bollywood also remained a remarkable part of her life with memorable films like Biwi No. 1, Main Hoon Na, Chingari and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, but Main Hoon Na directed by Farah Khan was her first movie where she wore a saree which was and cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan. She has also won other awards like Rajiv Gandhi Award, Mother Teresa Awards, Indian Affairs India Leadership Conclave, GeoSpa AsiaSpa India Awards & I Am Woman Awards.
