The top leader of the online sports gambling giant bet365 which also holds Stoke City football club is Britain’s best-paid boss.
Denise Coates (born 26 September 1967) is a British billionaire capitalist, the founder and joint chief executive of internet betting organisation Bet365. Coates is the U.K.’s highest-paid director, receiving more than 1,700 times the yearly pay of Prime Minister Theresa May. As of May 2018, Forbes journal assessed her net worth at $4.6 billion.
In 2017, Coates was censured for paying herself £217 million, with Mike Dixon, CEO of Addaction, saying “It can’t be correct that the CEO of a wagering organization is paid multiple times more than the entire industry ‘gives’ to treatment.”
Coates claims 50.01 percent of the organization and runs the firm together with her sibling, John Coates. Earlier in 2018, it was reported that her pay had expanded to £265 million, including profits. That was £48m higher than the aggregate she got a year ago as the popularity of internet betting keeps on expanding.
While the online betting sector has bloated as of late, it has also come in for rising criticism over its influence on some customers who have become addicted or collected huge debts.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, on the other hand, had a pay of $81,840 in 2017—still humble by CEO standards. However, he further holds 80 million shares of Amazon stock, which represents the greater part of his evaluated total assets of $165 billion.
